When someone searches for a dentist or a clinic nearby, the first thing they usually see is a map with three business profiles. For many patients, that profile is the decision.

1. Get the basics exactly right

  • Use your real clinic name, without stuffing keywords into it. Google can suspend profiles for this.
  • Pick the most accurate primary category (for example, "Dentist" or "Dermatologist"), then add secondary categories for other services.
  • Match your address and phone number exactly to your website and other listings.
  • Keep hours current, including holidays.

2. List your services

Add each treatment or service you offer, with a short plain-language description. Patients search for treatments as often as they search for clinic types.

3. Add real photos

Show your entrance, reception, treatment rooms and team. Real photos help patients recognise the place and feel comfortable. Avoid stock images.

4. Build a steady flow of reviews

  • Ask every satisfied patient, at the end of the visit or by message soon after.
  • Make it easy with a direct review link or QR code.
  • Reply to every review, briefly and professionally. Never confirm medical details in a reply.
  • Never buy reviews or offer incentives for them. It breaks Google's policies.

5. Post and answer questions

Use posts for updates: new services, timings, camps or health awareness days. Check the Q&A section and answer common questions yourself before someone else does.

6. Measure what matters

Your profile's performance view shows calls, direction requests and website clicks. Those numbers tell you more than rankings do.

Common mistakes: duplicate profiles, a different phone number on the website, hours that aren't updated, and ignoring negative reviews.

We offer Google Business Profile optimisation as a standalone package for clinics and local businesses. Book a call if you'd like us to review yours.

Questions readers ask

How long does it take to see results from profile optimisation?

Some changes, like correct categories and hours, help quickly. Review growth and visibility build over weeks and months.

Can I have one profile per doctor?

Google allows individual practitioner profiles in some cases, alongside the clinic's profile. The rules are specific, so check them before creating new ones.
